Bruleed French Toast
Ingredients
- 1 french baguette
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cup half and half
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- orange zest from one orange
- 1/2 tablespoon orange juice
- butter
- sugar
Directions
- Cut the baguette into slices 1-inch by 4-inches.
- Mix egg yolks, eggs, half and half, vanilla, orange zest, and orange juice in a bowl.
- In a deep dish- place slices of bread and pour egg mixture over top.
- Place in fridge for 30 minutes, pull out and flip bread, and place back in fridge for another thirty minutes.
- Heat a pan (medium high heat) and melt a tablespoon of butter. Place bread and flip after a few minutes until dark golden brown.
- Sprink sugar on one side of the bread and, with a kitchen torch, melt the sugar. OR place in oven on a baking sheet on the high broil setting for about 30 seconds to a minute.
